You’ve already found clients, put in the hours, and completed the work. Now it’s time to get paid. Invoicing should be the easiest part of your process, but creating and sending an invoice can be a time suck — and one you’re not getting paid for.

Invoicing software does the grunt work for you. Whether you’re looking for a comprehensive accounting suite, a quick way to send a simple invoice, or a combined estimating and invoicing tool, invoicing apps will get the job done. We’ve tested dozens of options, and here we’ll present three of the best free apps.

You can stay in total control of your business by using invoicing apps that are all over the internet. As a small business owner, freelancer or a start up without a dedicated accounting team, the job of invoicing falls directly on you. However, if you are using software to create an easy invoice, you can make your life as a small business owner far simpler.

Also, if the very thought of drafting, sending out and processing paid invoices brings you out in a cold sweat, the apps below feature some of the best invoice software you can find.

1. Wave accounting

This invoicing software is designed for non-accountants. It’s completely free tools include software for invoicing, accounting, tax documentation and payroll, as well as receipt scanning. They charge for credit-card processing, but the amount of organization you’ll have when tax time comes around will make it well worth it.

2. Zoho Invoice

The Zoho app really does it all, but if you just want invoicing they have a perfect “forever free” plan for those who have fewer than 5 customers to invoice. Zoho’s invoicing naturally integrates with their own suite of products, but it also integrates with many other applications, including Dropbox, Google Drive, PayPal, Stripe and OneDrive. It is also great for desktop and mobile.

3. ReliaBills

This app has an awesome free plan that allows unlimited invoices, automated email reminders and recurring invoices with no set-up fees. The only catch is that you’ll need to upgrade to their premium plan if you want to be able to accept online payments or add credit-card processing. There are also some fees for “unique” situations, but if all you’re interested in is pure invoicing, this is a great option.

With software like these, there’s no longer any excuse for shoddy invoices or messy books. When you have the tools at your fingertips to make invoicing a breeze, you’ll have more money available to you more often, and your business will thrive. Happy invoicing!
